Just came across this peace today in the "Breaking Christian News" website. According to Dr. Eilat Mazar (one of the world's leading authorities on the acrhaeology of ancient Jerusalem), a massive building has been discovered underneath the City of David (on the south side of Jerusalem's Old City) that is believed to be King David's palace.
A personal perspective
The City of David overlooks the Kidron Valley. Among other things, the Kidron Valley is known as the place Jesus crossed through after praying his John 17 prayer. (For an interesting perspective on the Kidron Valley, click here.) On the other side of the valley is the Mount of Olives--as well as Arab East Jerusalem.
In April, during Passover, I stood at the City of David with a group of about 20 worshippers, overlooking the Mount and East Jerusalem. As we began to pray at this site, immediately the Islamic call to prayer blared over the microphones from the other side of the valley. It was an intense moment--one that I'll never forget.
