Why is the issue of Israel's peace and security onlike that of any other nation--at least for the believer? Genesis 14 should give us a clue.
In Genesis 13 we see that Lot settled in the flatlands in the east near the Dead Sea. This decision was not made by the Spirit; it was totally of the flesh. It retulted out of a long-standing quarrel between his men and those of his uncle Abram. In order to stop the quarreling, Abram gave Lot "first dibs" on what portion of the land he wanted. Lot made his decision without consulting the spirit of the LORD in any way, shape, or form.
In Genesis 14 we read that Lot was taken hostage by the rulers of the cities in his area. What did Abram do? Well, he could said, "I've had it with that stupid nephew of mine" and wiped his hands clean of the matter! But instead, he went to war--for his backslidden relative! And he rescued Lot.
If you are a follower of Jesus the Messiah of Israel, you have become spiritually connected to Israel--whether you realize it or not! If you don't believe my words, then read Ephesians 2--and then go fight on behalf of your relatives!
